Father Robert J. Kayser, Chaplain of Our lady of the Rosary Council since the council's inception 56 years ago went to the Shrine of Our Lady of the Island in Eastport for the Shrine's 40th Anniversary on September 13th, 2015. Daniel P. Calise, Chancellor, and Matthew J. Ostrow, Warden from Our Lady of the Rosary Council brought Father Kayser to the anniversary celebration and took him out to lunch.

The Knights of Columbus 8th New York District hosted a District Level Soccer Challenge Competition at Our Lady of the Rosary Council Athletic Field in Deer Park. The competition was held on Oct 10, 2015 between participants from Our Lady of the Rosary in Deer Park, Our Lady of Grace in West Babylon, and St. Joseph the Carpenter in Babylon. A total of 11 youths were awarded with K of C Medallions and will be advancing to compete in the all Suffolk County Level.

On October 10, 2015, Grand Knight Leslie Small of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Council #6556 in Wyandanch was presented with the 2014-2015 Star Council Award by District Deputy Carmine E. Soldano

This past summer members of our council, Resurrection of Our Lord 11871, in Farmingville, were asked to assist a member of the parish who is suffering from ALS. Her house was to go through a makeover for the TV show George to the Rescue on NBC. We were asked to move some of her furniture from her house to a pod on her driveway inorder for the contractors to complete their work.

The Knights of Columbus of the 8th New York District recently held the District’s annual Free Throw Basketball Championship. The event was held in the gymnasium at Ss. Cyril & Methodius Parish in Deer Park on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 9:30am. Boys and Girls between the ages of 9 through 14 who were winners at their council levels competed against each other. The participating councils were Our Lady of the Rosary Council #4428 in Deer Park and Our Lady of Grace Council #11968 in West Babylon. The eleven (11) winners above, 5 girls and 6 boys will be advancing to the Suffolk County Championship on March 5th. 2016. This year’s event was record breaking with 410 in attendance at Our Lady of Grace Parish in West Babylon. Approximately $20,000.00 was raised between the Pasta Dinner and the Chinese Auction. Our Lady of the Rosary Council N0.4428, Knights of Columbus in Deer Park, held their annual Top Cop Night on May 19th, 2016.  Traditionally this night is set aside to recognize the good work of a Police Officer from the First Precinct in Suffolk County.  This year’s recipient was Police Officer James Johnson honored for his self-motivated enforcement which helped keep the residents of Deer Park safer. Soldano, District Deputy of the 8Th NY District officiated over the ceremony. Grand Knight Vincent DiPasquale was installed as Grand Knight for the 2016-2017 Columbian Year. Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Council N0.6556, Knights of Columbus in Wyandanch recently held their annual Installation of Officers on Saturday, October 8th, 2016 at Our Lady of the Miraculous Church in Wyandanch. Members attended the 5:00pm Mass officiated by Father William Brisotti, Pastor. After the Mass, the Council members went to the Parish Center where the installation ceremony took place. Carmine E. Soldano, District Deputy of the 8Th NY District officiated over the ceremony. Grand Knight Ricardo R. Rivera was installed in his first term as Grand Knight for the 2016-2017 Columbian Year. There were approximately 50 Guest and dignitaries in attendance. A full dinner buffet were served following the ceremony.

 The Suffolk Board of District Deputies held their annual fundraiser,"Family Night at the Races" on Saturday, November 5th, 2016 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish Hall in Patchogue. Event was a huge success with approx 160 guest in attendance.

The Suffolk Board of District Deputies is proud to announce 100% attendance at the New York State Council Mid Year meeting from December 2nd thru December 4th at the Villa Roma in support of Suffolk County’s favorite son, John G. Joseph.

The 8th New York District Knights of Columbus recently added the Three Wise Men and the Gloria Angel to the Nativity Scene they purchased for Belmont Lake State Park last year. The Nativity project is now completed. The 8th district is comprised of, Our Lady of the Rosary Council #4228 in Deer Park, Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Council #6556 in Wyandanch, Our Lady of Grace Council #11968 in West Babylon, and Joseph the Carpenter Council #14771 in Babylon. The Nativity was a joint effort of all four councils and NYS Parks Department officials. The Nativity was blessed during a brief ceremony by Fr. William Brisotti, Pastor of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Parish in Wyandanch on December 14th at 4:30pm. Fr. Brisotti blessed the Nativity with Holy Water, spoke about the meaning of the Nativity and led the Knights in a verse of “Silent Night.” Pictured Left to Right: Anthony Ippolito, NYS KofC C&B Director, Wayne R. St. Joseph the Carpenter Council N0.14771, Knights of Columbus in Babylon recently held their annual Breakfast with Santa for the Parish of St. Joseph’s RC Church in Babylon. The breakfast was held on Sunday, December 11th, 2016 from 10:00am to 12:00noon. The Knights served pancakes and sausage to approximately 175 Guests. St. Nicholas attended and presented the children with gifts for the Christmas season while the reindeer waited patiently outside to get ready for the next stop. Seated Left to Right: Dominick J. The Suffolk Board of District Deputies recently hosted the Nassau/Suffolk Board of DD’s Christmas party on Monday, December 19th, 2016 at St. Kilian Council N0.2204 in Farmingdale. Carmine E. Soldano, Chairman of the Board hosted the party on behalf of the Suffolk County Board. New York State Deputy, Robert Weitzman and First Lady Connie were in attendance. Also in attendance were the Secretary to the State Deputy, John Joseph and his wife Amelia, and State Warden Ed Ciulla. The Nassau and Suffolk Conference Officers were also in attendance. St. Nicholas paid a visit and presented a gift to all the attendees. The first lady, and the wives of the Chairman of the Boards were presented with a Christmas bouquet of flowers. Catering was provided by Mama Sbarro’s Pizzeria in Deer Park. There were approximately 70 Guests and dignitaries in attendance.

The 8th New York District Knights of Columbus consisting of Our Lady of the Rosary Council in Deer Park, Our Lady of Grace in West Babylon, St. Joseph the Carpenter in Babylon, and Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal in Wyandanch, recently hosted a Night at the Races on January 28th at St. Matthews RC Parish Recreation Hall in Dix Hills to benefit the Mercy Inn Soup Kitchen in Wyandanch.  The Knights, as always worked hard and raised over $5,000.00 in profit from the race operations and $2,000.00 in profit from other sales and direct donations.  This will give the Soup Kitchen over $7,000.00 to help them feed the hundreds of needy families in their surrounding communities.

The event was held in the gymnasium at Ss. Cyril & Methodius Parish in Deer Park on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 9:30am. Boys and Girls between the ages of 9 through 14 who were winners at their council levels competed against each other. The participating councils were Our Lady of the Rosary Council #4428 in Deer Park and Our Lady of Grace Council #11968 in West Babylon. The eleven (11) winners above, 6 girls and 6 boys will be advancing to the Suffolk County Championship on March 11th. 2017.

New York State Council Knights of Columbus organized an Admission and Formation Degree Ceremonial for 20 Seminarians at St. Joseph’s Seminary in Yonkers , NY. The ceremonials took place on Friday, February 24th, 2017. 16 Seminarians participated in the Admission Degree and 20 Seminarians participated in the Formation Degree. The Degree Teams consisted of Representatives from different Conferences throughout New York State including, Suffolk, Nassau, Queens, Brooklyn, and Westchester. Present and representing Suffolk County were Michel T. Hearney, NY State Youth Director, Carmine E. Soldano, playing the Ceremonial Chancellor in the Admission Degree, and Robert Wissert, playing the Ceremonial District Deputy in the Formation Degree. Congratulations to all our Seminarians.

Cyril & Methodius Parish in Deer Park on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 9:00am. The Fourth Degree, Our Lady of Fatima Assembly assisted with the opening ceremony. Boys and Girls between the ages of 9 through 14 who were winners at their District levels competed against each other. The twelve (12) winners above, 6 girls and 6 boys will be advancing to the Long Island Regional Championship on March 25th, 2017 at Chaminade High School in Mineola. (Michael T.
